Email Alert FAQ

What are email alerts? provides subscribers with the ability to be alerted via email.  This feature can be accessed on your Alerts Setting page; This is a service we provide to subscribers and registered users.  To review the benefits of subscribing or to subscribe please click here

Alerts are provide for three different types of situations:

  1. You are notified as a new article is published to your Tracked list.
  2. You are notified if someone sends you a message through
  3. You are notified if someone replies to a comment you left on an article.  Note that only registered users and subscribers may leave comments on articles.

For each of these you can elect to receive the alert immediately, hourly, daily or weekly.  You can edit your settings on your Alerts Setting page.

Are there costs associated with's email alerts?

No. Our email alerts are free with any subscription or registration.  To subscribe please click here.

How easily can I unsubscribe to my email alerts?

You can edit your settings here and set the notification to "off".  Note that messages are always accessible at http:/ whether or not you are alerted.

Are's Tracked email alerts customizable, or must I receive all alerts?

As a subscriber you can customize your Tracked list on the dashboard.  Here you can follow authors, stocks, or any filter combination of market/product/sector (e.g. US Equity Technology).  Whenever a new article is published that you can see on your Tracked list you will be able to be alerted immediately, hourly, daily or weekly, or never depending on your alert settings.

I signed up for email alerts, but I'm not getting them. Why?

When you register or subscribe to we send you a confirmation email to which you must respond.  This ensures that you have entered the correct email address.  If this email does not appear in your inbox, check your spam/trash folder.  Also, to ensure that your email provider does not block your alerts, add to your address book.

I followed the instructions above, but I still am not getting my email alerts. What should I do?

Check with your ISP or company's IT support group and request that they add us to their email "whitelist", or their list of trusted senders who are not be blocked at a higher level than you control. You will also want to let them know that you specifically requested email service from us. Also, feel free to pass them our email address (  We are happy to answer any questions and assist with the process.

I normally receive email alerts just fine. Why didn't it arrive yesterday/today/recently?

Occasionally there are glitches in our system, or email delivery is affected by factors beyond our control.  Please contact us if you do not receive email alerts for a few consecutive days and we will investigate.

How do I unsubscribe?

If you have any problem doing this yourself here, just send an email (from the email account from which you subscribed) with the word "Unsubscribe" as the subject, to and we will do it for you.

How do I reset my password?

You can create a new password by clicking here. If you forget your password, click here and there is a link there that will enable you to reset your password.

How can I change my email address?

You email address is your login id and so cannot be changed.

Can I post comments to articles on via email?

No.  Only registered users and subscribers can comment, and then only on the site.

How long will the articles be available online?

Access to articles depends on your subscription level.  Premium subscribers can see all articles.  Basic subscribers can see articles from two weekdays  after first publication on the site until twenty weekdays after first publication on the site, after which they are archived.  Registered users can see most articles from five to ten weekdays after first publication on the site until twenty weekdays after first publication on the site.  The links in your email alerts should work until the article is archived.  The only other time an article will be inaccessible to you is if it is removed from the site for some reason (see I'm unable to click one of the headline links in my email alert.  Why is that? below).

I clicked one of the headline links in my email alert, but the article wasn't found.  Why is that?

This is one of the rare occasions in which an article was removed from after publication, pending resolution of an issue pertaining to its content or author.
